Nebraska is a state that has a long history with ballot initiatives. The fact that we have the only unicameral legislature in this country is due to a successful initiative drive in 1934.

Between 1860 (before we were a state) and 2025, Nebraskans voted on 424 ballot measures. Of those, 266 (63%) were approved. The stats show that Nebraskans know what they want and are willing to vote accordingly.
